Taking
Your Game To The Next Level
All
golfers want to get better. The problem is knowing where to start. On this page you will find a list of
4 things everyone needs to improve in order to lower their scores and enjoy the
sport more.
Playing
good enough golf isn't rocket science, nor does it come solely from wishful thinking.
Be patient with yourself. Stay focused and don't be discouraged by all those fat, thin, and botched golf shots
that come with the process of learning golf. It can take a year of working on the right
things to see real results.
Good grips=good golf
|
The Grip
It all starts here. Pick up a copy of Hogans
"Five Lessons" and study the section on grips. If your
hands are small try an interlocking grip; if big, practice with an
overlapping grip. Grip and re grip the club, until the grip feels
unforced and natural. A simple formula to follow is: A good grip = good golf. |
|
Posture
Posture is second in importance only to the grip.
Starting with an athletic position will promote an athletic and effective
swing motion. To form
good posture, bend over
at the hips, not at your waist. Keep your back straight as you lower the
shoulders. Keys: Use minimal knee flex. Stick your butt out.
Keep the chin
up. Concentrate your weight on the middle of the feet. Let
your arms hang down from your shoulders. Soften your grip.

Don't sit
down.
Bend at hips.

Harness
your power with good tempo! |
Tempo
Nothing slows your progress in golf more than swinging too
fast. Impatience, fueled by the fear of failure, can make us try and kill the ball.
To hit good enough golf shots, you must learn proper golf mechanics, then proper
pace. Good tempo acts like glue to hold pieces of the swing together.
Learn to harness your power by developing good tempo. Good
tempo=good golf. |

Divots, Divots, And More Divots!
There are few things that can elevate your game (or the
ball) like taking divots. Make the grass fly if you want the ball to
fly high! Nothing will speed up your development like hitting down
on the ball and producing divots with every shot. In the beginning
you might dig a little too deep. Don't worry, as your swing improves
so will the size of your divots. Digging up
the grass now will pay big dividends in the long run.
